Montblanc Medieval Festival
According to the book Costumari Català by the Catalan ethnologist Joan Amades, Montblanc was the town where Saint George slew the dragon. To commemorate this event, the town holds a festival of cultural and entertainment activities to replicate the environment of the middle ages and to reenact the legend of Saint George.
For 2 weeks, the village streets and squares are decorated with the colours of the important noble families and flags. The key events are: Dracum Nocte (a theatrical re-enactment of the dragon’s arrival), a medieval market, medieval stalls selling food and drink of the period, a medieval tournament and traditional musical performances.
